“God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power.” Hebrews 1:1-3b
Since creation, God has given us patterns and examples of the way His plan for man’s redemption would unfold. Down through the centuries He spoke through the writers of the Old Testament and established physical pictures in everyday life which portrayed spiritual truths in order for us to understand and then recognize our Messiah. The covenants, reconciliation by way of a sacrifice, the redemption of land and people, the symbols of a bride and bridegroom, all spoke of God’s imminent salvation.
Then, out of eternity, Jesus—the centerpiece of God’s exquisite plan—was sent to us. Today, we celebrate this joyous event as Christmas. God was—and now is—seen and heard clearly in Jesus, the most precious and priceless gift ever given. Jesus is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of God’s nature.
I praise You, Lord God, for the gift of Jesus!
