“So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of His will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding.” Colossians 1:9 (NLT)
I called my hubs the other morning just to ask for prayer. I had some nerves about a meeting I had that day. You know what? It brought relief just to say out loud, "Will you pray for me?"
Intercessory prayer is a richly biblical action. We tend to underestimate the eternal consequences of lifting each other up to God. Aside from gathering the joy of loving each other well, praying for one another creates space for God’s Spirit to move!
James tells us that praying for one another brings healing.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working”
James 5:16 (ESV)
And consider Job; he endured heartache after heartache, but after praying for his friends, the cycle was broken.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“And the LORD restored the fortunes of Job, when he had prayed for his friends. And the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before” (Job 42:10 ESV)
Ask for prayer. Ask others how you can be praying for them, too.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
