“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2
We need each other and we need to be kind not just to each other but especially when dealing with unbelievers. How else would we draw them to Christ? We also need accountability and a willingness to carry a brother or sister in Christ when one falls. Jesus carried our burdens on the cross and He tells us, “Follow Me,” so helping to carry one another’s burden is something we have to do. I can remember many times when I think I've blown it or that I'm alone, then I get a call or a text and I realize I’m not alone and I have someone to pray with me.
“Show hospitality to one another without grumbling.” 1 Peter 4:9
Hospitality is not always a place to be hospitable but an action of inclusion. Invite a friend to lunch or a walk or to church. Pick up the phone and call someone. Reach out when you feel discouraged or alone and ask for prayer.
“And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him - a threefold cord is not easily broken.” Ecclesiastes 5:12
Don’t ever think “I don’t need anybody” and call yourself a Loner. Even Jesus surrounded Himself with people and the only times you read about Him being alone was when He went to the wilderness or to find a quiet place to pray and—on the cross.
“Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Take every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.” Ephesians 4: 2-3
Being a Christian in a time that the world hates Jesus Christ and us, we need each other more than ever. So—at home with your family—don’t be afraid to share the love that has been poured into you. Away from home, be a light by being kind and considerate to everyone. Be a good friend to other believers. Never be too busy to pray for someone, to listen or to just be together.
Remember practice makes perfect!
