“The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying ‘Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” Jeremiah 31:3
February fourteenth—a day traditionally set aside to honor love. I suspect a greeting card company had much to do with popularizing the sending of cards, flowers, candy and other gifts to express emotion toward a special person. Financially it’s a huge money maker for sellers of all things red, pink, purple, white, gold and silver. How we have obscured the meaning of true love.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
At Calvary, God extended His mercy to all who would believe. His love is unending. This Valentine’s Day may we love as God has loved us.
“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
